ROCKET Missions flown this week - 17 - 20th April, 2023

During the week, ROCKET was activated on numerous missions for patients in need of specialist physicians and critical care at various facilities across the country.



On the 17th of April at approximately 16:20, emergency ground support services in the remote area of Hoedspruit requested urgent air transportation for a patient presenting with a suspected cerebrovascular accident in need of specialised care. ROCKET 5 was activated and on arrival the patient was stabilised before being airlifted to a facility in Polokwane for further treatment.


ROCKET 7 was activated on an urgent primary mission to Pretoria for a patient that had sustained electrical burns whilst on duty. Prior to airlifting the patient to a specialized facility in Johannesburg, the patient was stabilized on scene together with ground support services and advanced life support interventions were initiated.


ROCKET 1 was activated to Kathu for an urgent inter-facility transfer of a patient who had beeninvolved in a motor vehicle accident. The patient was airlifted to a specialised facility in Bloemfontein for further treatment and care. Subsequently ROCKET 6 was activated for a second patient who had been involved in the same motor vehicle accident, requiring specialised care at a facility in Bloemfontein.


ROCKET 1 was activated on a primary mission to the Lime Acres area for a patient requiring urgent specialised care for a suspected cerebrovascular accident. To receive further treatment, the patient was airlifted to Upington.


ROCKET 1 was activated on an inter-facility transfer to Vryburg for a patient that had fallen from a height and sustained a suspected threatened limb injury. For urgent surgical intervention, the patient was flown to Kimberley.


ROCKET 1 was activated on a primary mission to the Philippolis area for a suspected cardiac patient requiring urgent specialised care. The patient was stabilised on scene before being airlifted to a facility in Bloemfontein for further treatment and care.
