In the event that it is necessary, ROCKET is equipped with a neonate (baby) incubator. Neonatal incubators provide a safe, controlled environment for neonates who are ill or premature and cannot regulate their own temperature.
As well as offering climate control, an incubator provides protection against excessive movement during flight, excessive noise, and excessive light levels that may be harmful. The incubator should be considered for use in all neonates (infants less than 30 days old) when ill, injured or transported.
ROCKET 8 was activated this week on an urgent inter-facility transfer of twin babies from Tonga to a facility in Nelspruit for specialised paediatric care.
