ROCKET missions 20-26th March, 2023

ROCKET was activated on several occasions over the past week:

ROCKET 7 was activated on a primary mission to the R59 for a male patient that had sustained a threatened limb, after he had been involved in a motor vehicle accident. While en-route to the scene, ground support units were already stabilizing the patient and ensuring a safe landing area. Flight paramedics continued to treat the patient before airlifting him to a specialized facility in Johannesburg for further treatment.

ROCKET 5 was activated on an inter-facility transfer from Trichardt for a patient that had sustained severe traumatic injuries. Flight paramedics initiated ongoing advanced life support care en-route to a facility in Johannesburg for specialised treatment.

ROCKET 7 was activated on an inter-facility transfer of a male patient suffering from a life-threatening cardiac condition, from a facility in Limpopo. The aeromedical crew, consisting of a doctor and flight paramedic, monitored and treated the patient en-route to a specialised facility in Pretoria for further care.

ROCKET 1 was activated on several inter-facility transfers to Kathu where the patients were airlifted to a facility in Kimberley for further specialised treatment and care:

  • an elderly male patient, suffering from a cardiac condition

  • a male and female patient both suffering from respiratory distress, requiring advanced airway management en-route
